Professor Howard Sercombe, Phd, has worked in the community sector for over forty years as an academic, youth worker, researcher and manager. He has worked in the community sector for over forty years as an academic, youth worker, researcher and manager. He has worked on the street in social housing suburbs of Perth, developed youth services for Indigenous young people in the outback of Western Australia, worked with Eastern European gypsy communities in Glasgow, and heroin users in de-industrialising towns in Scotland.
He has expertise in social theory and social policy, in professional ethics and in adolescent development, including applications of neuroscience. He currently lectures in criminology at the University of NSW and is General Secretary of youthworknsw, the professional association for youth workers in NSW. |
